Counted, with the method

Impact

Six numbers, each with the sentence that says how it was counted. No method, no number — and no claim about a worker’s life that the ledger cannot show.

14Partner farms

Farms with a signed wage floor in force on 31 December 2025, counted from the ledger on this site.

2,900Workers on record

The sum of each farm's payroll headcount at its last verification (2,912 on the ledger today, rounded). Seasonal pickers count if they appear on at least one pay sheet in the year.

27Verification visits in 2025

Two visits per partner farm in 2025 (one for the farm that joined that January), each with a pay-record review and worker interviews chosen by the verifier, not the farm. Visits are listed under each farm on the ledger.

67%Of the gap closed, on average

For each farm, (paid now minus paid before joining) divided by (benchmark minus paid before joining); farms already at benchmark count as 100%. The plain mean over the 14 farms, computed from the ledger.

$3.20Paid per day before joining

The median paid daily rate across the 14 farms at their first verification visit, in US dollars at the rate of that day. A sample figure on this demonstration.

$4.10Sample benchmark per day

The median of the SAMPLE benchmarks on this ledger. A real ledger uses the regional living-wage benchmark published by the Global Living Wage Coalition (Anker methodology); no real benchmark figure appears on this demonstration.

The stat chips on the home page link here. The numbers 4 to 6 are computed from the ledger when the page is served, so they follow every staff edit.

The road to a Ugandan partner farm after rain. One 2026 visit was postponed by it, and the ledger says so.

What did not work

Twice a year was not enough on two farms. Both passed in the spring and had a shortfall by the autumn, because the harvest crew is hired in between. From 2026 those two get a third, unannounced visit in the harvest month.

A pledge is not a payment. One brand pledged in 2025 and had not paid by the spring sourcing check; the ledger now flags a pledge older than 90 days that is not paying, to staff and to the public.

The road. The spring 2026 visit to the newest farm was postponed by the road, and that farm is flagged “not verified in 180 days” today. The flag stays until a visit is recorded; hiding it would be the point of the site failing.

2026

Goals

01

Every farm verified in the harvest month

A third visit for the two farms that slipped, and the flagged farm visited by November.

02

Two more brands paying

The two pledges on the list verified and paying by the autumn harvest, so the premium on cocoa reaches all five cocoa farms.

03

The gap under 25% on every farm

Three farms are still below 75% of benchmark. Their step schedules bring all three above it by the January floor rise.
